The Alzheimer’s Association Illinois Chapter is excited to announce The Empowered Caregiver, a comprehensive education program designed to help caregivers navigate the challenges of supporting someone living with dementia. This virtual series offers caregivers the flexibility to register for individual sessions based on their needs or complete the entire program to gain a deeper understanding of dementia caregiving.
Each session will begin at 10 a.m. CT and will address critical aspects of caregiving, offering practical tips, resources, and expert guidance. The program schedule includes:
Building Foundations of Caregiving – January 8, 2025
Supporting Independence – February 5, 2025
Communicating Effectively – March 5, 2025
Responding to Dementia-Related Behaviors – April 9, 2025
Exploring Care and Support Services – May 7, 2025
Participants will gain insights into providing person-centered care, maintaining effective communication, managing challenging behaviors, and accessing essential support services. Each session is designed to empower caregivers with the tools and confidence they need to meet the responsibilities of caregiving while ensuring the dignity and independence of their loved ones.
In addition to The Empowered Caregiver series, caregivers can explore a variety of free programs offered by the Alzheimer’s Association, including in-person educational workshops, awareness programs, and support groups. Support groups provide a safe, confidential space where caregivers can share experiences, build mutual support, and develop problem-solving skills.
