New Alz Journey App and Extreme Heat Tips Help Protect Loved Ones Living with Alzheimer’s

Every June, National Safety Month is observed to promote awareness around safety in our homes, workplaces, and communities. This annual initiative encourages everyone to take proactive steps to prevent injuries and improve overall well-being. In support of this effort, the Alzheimer’s Association is highlighting the unique safety needs of individuals living with Alzheimer’s and other dementias — and launching new tools to help.
The Alzheimer’s Association urges families to take action to keep loved ones safe, particularly during the summer months, when extreme heat and wandering risks pose serious dangers.
To support caregivers and families, the Association has released the new Alz Journey app, a mobile resource designed to:
Offer 24/7 guidance for managing Alzheimer’s-related behaviors
Provide location tracking and alerts to assist with wandering prevention
Connect users to local resources and emergency support
“National Safety Month is an important reminder that safety is not one-size-fits-all,” said Delia Jervier, executive director at the Alzheimer’s Association Illinois Chapter. “For the more than 7 million Americans living with Alzheimer’s, something as routine as a hot day or getting disoriented in a familiar place can become life-threatening. The new Alz Journey app is a vital tool for families to feel more prepared and protected.”
In Illinois and across the country, initiatives like Silver Search https:/www.silversearchillinois.orgwork alongside law enforcement to quickly locate missing individuals with dementia-related memory loss. The Alzheimer’s Association urges communities to stay alert and familiar with Silver Search alerts and protocols.
Tips to Stay Safe This Summer:
Avoid outdoor activity during the hottest parts of the day
Keep living spaces cool and well-ventilated
Ensure hydration and access to water
Use identification jewelry or medical ID bracelets for those at risk of wandering

I would like to share my husband's journey with Alzheimer's disease. He received his diagnosis two years ago at the age of 57, presenting with symptoms such as memory loss, difficulty finding words, and a pulsating sensation throughout his body. Initially, he was prescribed donepezil for six months, which was subsequently replaced with memantine. During this period, he was also diagnosed with dementia and began experiencing hallucinations and a diminished connection to reality.Suspecting that the medication might be contributing to his symptoms, and with the knowledge of his physician, I discontinued the memantine and commenced a natural herbal formula for Alzheimer's from AKNNI HERBAL CENTRE. Within three weeks of using the AKANNI HERBAL Alzheimer's disease natural herbal formula, his symptoms…
