This training is in compliance with Public Act 91-744 requiring the Illinois Department of Public Health to establish training criteria for nursing home and home health staff that provide direct care to persons with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.

The conference will provide health care professionals the information, techniques and tools needed to train direct care staff providing dementia care in skilled nursing and home health care settings.

Topics include understanding dementia, communication strategies, teaching techniques, conducting in-services, dealing creatively with challenging behaviors and activity-based care.
