Syliva Fites Library

More than 400 books and videos are available for loan to families and health professionals. Visit the Peoria, Rock River or Quincy offices for a complete listing.

Don Fites, former Caterpillar CEO, donated a major gift to the Alzheimer Association through the Fites Family Charitable Trust. This gift in honor of his wife Sylvia is to update and enhance the agency library. The agency purchased the latest dementia-related books and educational videos for family caregivers, professionals and persons with dementia. The new library will be known as the Sylvia Fites Library. Don will hang a picture of Sylvia, sketched by local artist Genevieve Schlueter, in the library.

This lending library provides valuable resources to increase understanding of the disease and caregiver issues. Books and videos can be borrowed for 2 weeks so families and professionals can review materials at their convenience in their own settings. These resources promote best practices and shared caregiving plans. All library resources are free and available Monday – Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Terry Hampton of Hampton's Kitchen and Appliances and Marianne Bibo-Russel of Bibo Galleries have also helped with the library and office renovations.
